I know some of you have them, and they are quite possibly your other children. Or maybe your only child(ren). Either way, I have an affinity for my doggies. I'm leaning towards the fact that they like me a lot too.
Everytime we leave the house the dogs go into their kennels. When they go in on their own, they get a little treat for doing so. I was running low on treats, and thinking that really, it would probably be a lot more cost effective and healthier for them to just make some on my own. Plus, for the first time in my life I recently bought a rolling pin (I KNOW!) and I really wanted to use it.
I found this recipe, that looked simple enough. Next time I may add a little more in there, although I don't think my dogs minded these at all, they ate the first one while it was still warm!
My version is below.
2 cups 100% whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup peanut butter
1 1/4 cup skim milk
1 tsp honey
dash of salt
Preheat oven to 375.
Mix peanut butter, milk and honey into stand mixer. Mix together. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until combined.
On a flat surface, roll out dough and cut into whatever shapes you like. For the perfect sized circles, I flipped a shot glass over and made round cookies.
Put onto baking sheet, sprinkle tops with a tiny bit of salt if desired and bake for 20 minutes.
